Two years ago today it was the first day of kindergarten, the first day of second grade, and a doctors appointment to check on our baby since I was overdue by 5 days. The doc checked the fluid levels and they were fine. Then we went to see how active the baby was, and he still was a rock n and rolling in there, so they sent me home. I left that appointment in tears, I was so uncomfortable, that was the summer we had weeks of over 100 degrees. So I continue with my life, later that night we have taco's for dinner at Dad and Lisa's. Grandma Jean was staying there waiting for the baby to arrive along with me Mom staying in a hotel in
Vacaville. As we are eating our dinner, it starts, sharp pain in my back and I know it is go time. So I announced

that it has started and of course everyone was so excited. So we pack up and all 50 of us (not really 50 but a crowd)head to Kaiser in Vallejo. About 18 hours later baby Ashton was born, just writing about it is bringing tears to my eye's. He came out kicking and screaming all 8lbs 6 oz and 23 1/2 in of him. It was a miracle, like all baby's are. A few hours later I get a call from Jaime in Arizona, she tells us that she looked at the calender and realized that Grandpa Ashton was born on August 25 also in 1917. What a complete honor to have not only Grandpa's name for our son but also the same birthday. It still raises the hair on my arm's, this clearly made all my misery worth it. Happy Birthday Mr. Ashton, we love you more than you'll ever know.

23 1/2 inches...holy smokes! My uterus hurts just thinking about it.
2 YEARS!? It doesn't seem possible...it feels like it was just a minute ago you were 4 MONTHS old playing with me on your tummy.
Happy 2nd Birthday, Ashton!! I love and miss you so much!
Big birthday kisses from Donna, Brian, and Joey
