How?

How do you tell your sweet sweet neighbor to quit filling up your garbage can? It drives me crazy, we have overflowing cans without her help. She helps me all the time but really use your own can and smash down your garbage it might help. Please tell me what you think I should do.

It depends on which neighbor....

move your cans inside your gate for a month to break the cycle. If she asked why say someone is using my can without asking. It only matters if my can is to full for my own stuff. and so on

hide in the can when its empty and then when they come to use it you can pop out and scream KNOCK IT OFF!!! I'm sure you'll scar them for life and they will stop

I would tell them that you don't mind if they put stuff in it after it is put down on the street but if they would refrain from putting their trash into it till then, that would be greatly appreciated.

First of all..Who does that?! I agree with Papa Wayne, I would put the cans inside my fence. Then if she asks why say someone is using it without permission, pretending like you dont know they did it will save you that weird conversation :)

It is very likely that it is the kids not being able to smash thier own down so they just use yours. My guess is the parents may not be aware. Teresa is on the right page. Who would be up set after being approched like that. its all about everyone getting rid of the trash anyway

dont you think it is funny how we all feel about this garbage topic, lol, i do. i think i am going to do both. talk to her and put them behind the fence. and dad it is the people that have the two small children not the other ones you are thinking of.

I don't know if I can give you any good advise since I use my neighbors garbage can too.

Oh wait - I didn't read everyone else's comments until after I posted mine. I'm changing my comment to "that's so rude, they should take care of their own trash"
