Dearest Mommy,
I am writing this letter because I am not as organized as I would like to be and didn't send a card soon enough. However, I wanted to make sure you know how special you are to me on your birthday. First I would like to say that I wish I was there to celebrate your fifty third birthday with you, however I know that you are surrounded by people that adore and love you, and that makes me feel better. You have so many talents and qualities that I can only hope to have as I keep getting older. First of all you are the BEST hosttess I have ever seen, no one can even get close to compare. I hold myself to a very high standard trying to be like you, and someday with practice I hope I can. You are the best cook I know, every where I go you are the standard that I compare too. You are a strong woman, you know what you deserve and will fight to make sure you get it. I mean you are married to the most stubborn man I know, and you don't back down if it is something you believe in, and I respect you for that. You have instilled in my a honesty that surprise people in my life. I can not tell a lie not even a small one, so even if I get in trouble or hurt someones feelings I will tell the truth. If you don't tell the whole story it is a lie, I remember you saying that, I feel like this is one of my best qualities that you have instilled in me. You have love me unconditionally, I have disappointed you and hurt you, yet you still love me, and more and more as time goes on. Over the years of my adult life you have become my best friend (and I only have 3). I know that you will always say what is on your mind no matter if I don't want to hear it, because you truly care about me and my family. I can celebrate happiness with you and know that you genuinely feel the same as me. When I am sad, you feel my sadness, only people that truly love one another can do this. You have put a roof over my family's head when I couldn't, you have fed my family when i couldn't, you have provided material things that I couldn't. You are the best grandparent to my kids, yet you are the furthest away. Today I want you to feel good, you have done an awesome job as a Mommy, La-la, mother in law and wife. I love you SO much. I can't wait till I can join you and Lana in all your adventures in South Dakota. Happy Birthday Mommy.
P.S. Thank you Lana for doing this for me. And you are lucky to hang with such a wonderful woman all the time, I'm jealous.
