Bringing Jesse Home

This morning we were all so excited to get Jesse. The boys and I were gone all morning so when I went to the shelter to pick her up I was surprised to hear that she didn't get spayed as planned. She had showed some symptoms of kennel cough and the vet didn't want to do the surgery till she is in good health. So, the shelter still let us take her, they will call in a week or two to check on her and then if she seems ok, we will schedule the appointment then. As soon as we left the shelter we went over to the vet to get some antibiotics so that the virus doesn't turn into an infection. They said she had been coughing but I still haven't heard anything yet and it has almost been 24 hours since we had here. She was really scared, shaking like a leaf in the car, she sat on the girls lap the whole way home.
When we first got home I was terrified that she would run away from me, but all was fine. I put her on the toggle thing in the front yard so I could get some of the hair off her and to calm down a little before we went inside. TONS of hair came off, I am not surprised, but really, yuck.
She was really cute, totally into looking at everything, she has still only barked one time since we brought her home, and that was at a dog that was being walked in front of the house.
Jesse is so busy taking it all in she had zero interest in any of the toys that we got her, but I'm sure that will change after a while.
Then the big step, going into the house. She was all spy like, sniffing and staying low to the ground, just to make sure all was good I guess. After looping the house about 10 times and going further in the rooms each time, she chilled out. All I could think about was how much hair was dropping as she walked, don't worry, I am working on it. Oh no she is itching something, not fleas I hope.
So she is here, no turning back now. I feel totally over whelmed with all the things the kids need, Daniel, the house and now the dog. But somehow I will get it all figured out, I hope, pray for me please.

She is probably just itching but you really would want to get Advantage for the fleas. It's a little expensive but the only thing I've found that really works. Fleas are bad right now. Just went through it will Hazel. Such a pain in the butt. She hadn't had fleas for years so I didn't think about using it until I realized she already had the fleas. You just put it on their back once a month and no worries.
